Black Bear Diner

Ben and I took a nice trip to everyone's favorite: Black Bear Diner. We looked up a nearby place serving bread pudding, and this one popped up. We checked it out and the reviews were neutral. The bread pudding was spongey and mushy and didn't have enough "bread" texture that real bread pudding has. The thing that made this one good were the things that came with it. They poured a delicious caramel pecan sauce on top of the BP and threw on a scoop on vanilla ice cream for good measure.

The truth is, the topping tasted really good, but their job was to mask the fact that the bread pudding didn't taste that great. If we could've taken that sauce and the BP from Moon & Sixpence, it would've been bread pudding heaven...

  1. I recently learned this place is a chain. For years I thought there was only one in Medford or some location in Southern Oregon.

I don't like bread pudding. Still. Something with blueberry might interest me...is that possible?

  2. Also, is Ben rating this dish a 4 or is his hand just positioned in that manner because of a creepy looking coincidence?

  3. Hi "Sara." Thanks for posting. Ben's hand was just in the pic. However, he didn't like the bread pudding much.

I thought that this restaurant was only in Beaverton until I walked in and it listed like 5,000 black bear diner locations.

I will look for blueberry pudding. That will be next on our list.

  4. I'm a real person! Why is my name is quotes? Also, a quick google search will tell you that there are 42 Black Bear Diners in this fine nation, not the 5,000 that you suggested. I don't know what to believe on this "blog."
